General FAQs

I can't find my tickets!

Lost tickets can be easily replaced. Please call 207-842-0800 or visit our box office PortTIX in person to report a lost ticket. Reprinted tickets cannot be mailed, and patrons will be asked to provide a picture identification to pick up reprinted tickets. Please allow extra time before the concert for the Box Office to help you.

What if I can't use my tickets?

Series subscribers may exchange their tickets for any other Classical or POPS! concert within the same season (not for Magic of Christmas, Discovery, or special events). Please arrange for any exchanges at least 24 hours before the performance. Series subscribers may also turn their tickets back for a tax-donation receipt for the value of the tickets. Tickets must be turned back at least 24 hours prior to the performance.

If you are not a Series subscriber and cannot use your tickets, we encourage you to give them to a friend or colleague to enjoy. You can also inquire at local social service organizations such as Learning Works or Boys & Girls Club whether they might be able to pass your tickets along to a family who might not otherwise be able to come to the PSO.

All sales are final and refunds are not available. Dates, artists, and programs are subject to change without notice. In the unlikely event that a concert is canceled, ticketholders will be notified with their options including refund information.

How long are concerts?

Most Classical, POPS!, and Magic concerts are around two hours, including a 20 minute intermission. Any significant exceptions to this will be noted on the individual concert page on our web site.

Discovery concerts and any Family-Friendly Magic of Christmas performances are 1 hour long and do not  have an intermission.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code! Most people will be wearing business clothes or slightly dressy casual clothes, but you’ll see everything from khakis to cocktail dresses. Some people enjoy dressing up while others prefer to relax and focus on their ears rather than their outfits. We prefer whatever makes you feel most comfortable while you spend your time with us.

Can I bring my children or grandchildren?

Yes! We believe that music should be accessible to all, but ask that you keep the experience of other patrons in mind. For mainstage performances, it depends on the concert and on the attention span of the kids. Standard-length classical or POPS! concerts run for about two hours, which may be difficult for younger children to maintain focus. But our Discovery concerts are perfectly suited for all ages.

Do you offer student or senior discounts?

Full-time students and children under 18 are eligible for single-ticket discounts in most seating areas. Student Rush Happy Hour is announced for select concerts via our Facebook page. Senior citizens over the age of 65 are entitled to a discount in most seating areas. Please call PortTIX at (207) 842-0800 to learn more.

We also offer a College Card for students 16+. Learn more about applying for the College Card or purchasing one as a gift here.

Groups of 10 or more are also eligible for discounts and other great benefits. For more information, visit our Group Tickets page or contact Jennifer Whitley at (207)842-0800 x231.

Can I purchase a gift certificate?

Gift certificates are available to purchase through our box office here.
