ANNOUNCING THE 2023-24 SEASON!

Youth Concerts

Educational Experiences for Young Music Lovers

Symphonies that delight and excite core curriculum learning

We are so excited to announce that Youth Concerts will be making a return to Merrill Auditorium on May 13, 2024. This year’s Youth Concert will feature a performance of Carnival of the Animals: Remix, an engaging and reimagined version of Saint-Saëns’ famous work. Featuring local artists including a rapper, a Native American flute player, and an erhu player, this interactive daytime performance is perfect for all elementary students (K-4).

PSO Youth Concerts spark full-orchestra excitement in their 4-12 year old audiences by providing a new acoustical approach to the subjects they’re covering in school. Strong curriculum connections are bolstered by 50-minute performances designed to support acquisition of the academic skills set by Maine Learning Result standards. That focus is complemented by the investigation of styles and structure that can inspire a lifelong love of musical education and experiences. For more information email PSO Director of Learning and Community Impact McKenzie Blanchard at mblanchard@portlandsymphony.org or call (207) 773-6128 ext 166.
