The Science of Sound
On May 6th, 2021, the PSO will release its first ever all-digital Youth Concert, The Science of Sound. The program will explore the scientific fundamentals of how an orchestra uses their instrument to turn sound in to beautiful music including topics like vibration, waves, amplitude, and wavelengths. This program will feature works by composers like Mozart, James Reese Europe, Vivaldi, and Rossini.
Symphonies that delight and excite core curriculum learning
PSO Youth Concerts spark full-orchestra excitement in their 8-12 year old audiences by providing a new acoustical approach to the subjects they’re covering in school. Strong curriculum connections are bolstered by 50-minute performances designed to support acquisition of the academic skills set by Maine Learning Result standards. That focus is complemented by the investigation of styles and structure that can inspire a lifelong love of musical education and experiences.
