Performance Policies

Refunds & Exchanges

Subscribers receive the benefit of exchanging tickets between all mainstage performances within the current season at no charge (certain restrictions may apply.) Exchanges are available on single ticket purchases for a fee, but no refunds. If you have purchased single tickets for a concert you are unable to attend, you may give your tickets to a friend or donate your tickets back  to the Portland Symphony Orchestra.

Cameras and Recording Devices

We’re so glad you want to capture memories of attending the PSO, but ask that you please keep certain guidelines in mind. Photos and video are permitted before and after performances, and during intermission. However, recording of performances is strictly prohibited, as it is not only distracting to those around you but a violation of musicians, music publisher, and music licensor contracts. Anyone caught recording or taking pictures during a concert may have their device confiscated, or be asked to leave.

Food and Beverages

The concessions at Merrill Auditorium serves soft drinks, coffee, tea, water, beer, and wine before concerts and during intermission. Some packaged snacks are also available. Food and any drinks not in a can or bottle must be finished before entering the hall.

Outside food and beverages are strictly prohibited.

Late Arrivals

Patrons arriving after the performance begins will be seated at the discretion of the house manager and ushers. Seating will not be until the first suitable break or at intermission, and late seating may not be in the purchased location.

Lost and Found

If you find someone else’s belongings while attending a concert, you may present them to any usher or staff member. All items will be held at the usher podiums or box office during the performance. Afterwards, call the city of Portland lost and found at (207) 808-5400.

Medical ASSISTANCE

City staff is available at all times, and medical assistance is available whenever required. Please notify an usher or any Portland city staff member in a red vest.

Security

The City of Portland does bag checks and has patrons walk through metal detectors upon entering the building. Please leave large bags at home or in the car. Knives of any kind are not allowed in the venue and will be confiscated. The City cannot guarantee any knives will be returned after the concert.
