Summer Concert Series FAQ

Your Portland Symphony Orchestra is delighted to return to LIVE music this summer with three exciting concerts at the stunning outdoor venue Seaside Pavilion in Old Orchard Beach. Featuring three programs including Beethoven’s powerful third symphony “Eroica”, a family-friendly musical adventure, and a trip to the movies with John William’s greatest hits. Assumption of Risk: Attendance at this event is subject to facility rules and regulations including compliance with COVID-19 orders and guidelines. Ticket holders voluntarily assume all risk and danger incidental to the performance or event, including but not limited to potential exposure to COVID-19. Management reserves the right to refuse admission.

Everything You Need to Know About Our Summer Concert Series at Seaside Pavilion

Are we required to wear masks inside the Pavilion?

For both the Eckart Conducts Beethoven and The Music of John Williams concerts, while it is not required to wear a mask inside the Pavilion, it is recommended by both the venue and your PSO. Bring your mask as you will be REQUIRED to wear it to enter the restrooms and on the parking trolleys.

In order to ensure the safety of all families in attendance, MASKING IS REQUIRED and will be ENFORCED both in and around the venue as well as on the parking trolleys at the Musical Tales: A Discovery Concert for Families program.

Are you able to accommodate us if we would like to practice social distancing when seated for a concert?

The Musical Tales: A Discovery Concert for Families program will have a reduced capacity of 400, with enforced 6-feet social distancing to ensure the safety of all families in attendance.

Both the Eckart Conducts Beethoven and The Music of John Williams concerts will have a reduced capacity of 900 (the Seaside Pavilion seats 1,400) which should allow for some distancing. However, depending on attendance, social distancing between all parties cannot be guaranteed.

Getting to Seaside Pavilion

Please note, due to the parking being off-site we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to the concert to ensure timely transport to the venue. Please note, MASKING is REQUIRED on the parking trolleys to the venue. 

SOUTHBOUND VIA I-95 S
This route has tolls

  • Merge onto I-95 S
  • Take exit 36 for I-195 E toward Saco/Old Orchard Beach
  • Continue onto I-195
  • Continue onto Ocean Park Road
  • In 2.3 miles, turn left onto Smithwheel Road
  • Continue onto McCallum Drive
  • Continue onto Emerson Cummings Boulevard
  • In 1.2 miles, turn left onto Dirigo Road
  • In 0.1 miles, the Old Orchard Beach High School parking lot will be on your right
  • Watch for Pavilion Parking signs as you approach the area. Parking staff will be available to assist you

SOUTHBOUND VIA US-1 S
This route DOES NOT have tolls

  • Merge onto I-295 S/US-1 S toward South Portland
  • Take exit 2 toward US-1 S/Scarborough/Old Orchard
  • Continue onto ME-701
  • Merge onto US-1 S. Stay on US-1 S for 6.3 miles
  • Turn left onto ME-98 E/Cascade Road
  • In 1.5 miles, turn right onto Ross Road
  • In 0.2 miles, turn left onto Wild Dunes Way
  • In 0.6 miles, turn left toward Dirigo Road
  • Continue onto Dirigo Road
  • In 0.4 miles the Old Orchard Beach parking lot will be on your left
  • Watch for Pavilion Parking signs as you approach the area. Parking staff will be available to assist you

NORTHBOUND VIA I-95 N
This route has tolls

  • Merge onto I-95 N
  • Take exit 36 for I-195 E toward Saco/Old Orchard Beach

  • Begin on US-1 N
  • Turn right onto Alfred Street
  • Continue onto State Route 9 E/Main Street
  • In 0.9 miles, turn right onto Beach Street
  • In 0.9 miles, turn left onto Old Orchard Road
  • In 1.3 miles at the traffic circle, take the second exit into Old Orchard Road/Saco Avenue
  • In 1 mile turn left onto Emerson Cummings Boulevard 
  • Pass the High School and take a left onto Dirigo Road
  • In 0.1 miles, the Old Orchard Beach High School parking lot will be on your right
  • Watch for Pavilion Parking signs as you approach the area. Parking staff will be available to assist you
Parking at Seaside Pavilion

There is NO on-site parking (excluding handicap parking) for our Summer Concert Series at Seaside Pavilion. Please park at the Old Orchard Beach High School parking lot located at 40 Emerson Cummings Blvd, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064. Watch for Pavilion Parking signs as you approach the area. Parking staff will be available to assist you.

Free trolley service is provided to transport you from the Old Orchard Beach High School parking lot to the Pavilion and back to the parking lot for each event. Masking is REQUIRED on the trolleys. Limited Handicap parking is available on-site.

Please note, due to the parking being off-site, we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to the concert to ensure timely transport to the venue.

PARKING START TIMES:

  • Eckart Conducts Beethoven – PARKING STARTS: 4:30 PM
  • Musical Tales: A Discovery Concert for Families – PARKING STARTS: 1:00 PM
  • The Music of John Williams – PARKING STARTS: 6:00 PM
When does the venue open for seating?
At least 30 minutes prior to the concert start time.
Entering Seaside Pavilion

This summer, we will be implementing touchless ticket scanning to reduce contact. Please have your printed or mobile ticket out and ready to be scanned as you approach the entrance. There will be a security check after your tickets are scanned.

Once inside, Seaside Pavilion signage, Seaside ushers, and PSO staff will be available to guide you to the appropriate seating location. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the management.

Security at Seaside Pavilion

Security concerns require that we search purses/bags being brought into the Pavilion. 

No bags or purses (other than small clear ones) will be allowed inside the venue. Clear bags allow our security staff to safely inspect items without having to touch your personal items.

Seat Cushions at Seaside Pavilion

You may bring a personal seat cushion to the venue but it will be subject to a security search.

Seating Policy

When purchasing online, ticket holders may select their preferred venue section but all seats will be assigned by our system prior to the concert. We require you remain in your assigned seat once the concert has started. Due to security concerns, we do not allow re-entry if a guest leaves the venue.

Ticket holders purchasing the day of at the venue will be seated at the discretion of management.

Eckart Conducts Beethoven and The Music of John Williams Ticket Holders: Please note, our system looks to place you in the best possible seats. While we have spaced the seating to try and create social distancing this DOES NOT ensure you and your party will NOT be placed directly next to another group.

Stay Home if Sick Policy

Any patron should stay home if they:

  • Are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms including fever, chills, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, congestion, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Have been in close contact with an individual who has been diagnosed or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms within the past 10 days.
  • Have been directed to self-isolate or quarantine by a health care provider or public health official.
  • Are awaiting the result of a COVID-19 test.
  • Please contact our box office, PortTIX, at 207.842.0800 about your tickets.
Will there be a Pre-Concert Conversation for either Classical concert?

There will not be a Pre-Concert Conversation prior to any of the Summer Concert Series programs. However, at both Eckart Conducts Beethoven and The Music of John Williams concerts we will be announcing our 2021-22 season!

Will there be Instrument Petting Zoo or Podium Hero activities prior to the Discovery concert?

In order to ensure the health and safety of all families in attendance, we will not be hosting Instrument Petting Zero or Podium Hero pre-concert events at the Musical Tales: A Discovery Concert for Families.

If we don't order our tickets online, can we purchase tickets when we arrive for the performance?

While we cannot guarantee ticket or seating availability on the day of the concert. If tickets are still available you will be able to purchase them at the time of the performance. All tickets must be purchased with a credit card.

Do I need to purchase a ticket for my child if they will sit on my lap?

Tickets are required for all children age 1 and above.

Are we allowed to bring food into the Pavilion?

No outside food or beverages are allowed at the Seaside Pavilion. However, each guest will receive a free bottle of water as they enter the gate. Due to state health regulations regarding food and beverages, there will be no concessions.

What happens if it rains on the day of the concert?
The Seaside Pavilion is a COVERED outdoor venue so concerts go on come rain or come shine.
Is smoking allowed in the Pavilion?

The entire Seaside Pavilion and surrounding campus is SMOKE, ALCOHOL, and DRUG free! Thank you for respecting Seaside Pavilion’s property!

Should I bring sunscreen or sunglasses?
The Seaside Pavilion is a COVERED outdoor venue. We do recommend bringing sunscreen and sunglasses if you plan to spend a great deal of time outside the venue itself.
Is it appropriate to bring my pet with me?

The only animals allowed at the Seaside Pavilion are active service animals.

Please note, Seaside Pavilion DOES NOT have public WIFI available to patrons.
