What instruments do you play? Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, E♭ Clarinet, Basset Horn and Alto, Tenor & Baritone Saxophones.
Educational background: BS & BM in Music Education & Performance at UMASS Lowell. MM in Clarinet Performance at New England Conservatory.
Family, Pets, Kids: Wife – Laurie. Adopted son – Timothy.
How did you get started in music? I started playing the Alto Saxophone at age 10.
What non-PSO musical activities do you participate in? Bass Clarinet with Boston Philharmonic, Principal Clarinet with Symphony by the Sea in Marblehead, Instrumental Music Specialist at Lowell Public Schools, and Clarinet Instructor for Creative Arts in Reading, MA.
What’s your favorite PSO memory to date? Performing Pops Series Concerts with great artists such as Doc Severinson, Chet Atkins, Toni Tennille, Maureen McGovern, Steve Lippia and others.
Describe a typical day: Wake up a 5:15 AM, teach all day, band rehearsal and sometimes orchestra rehearsal at night.
What is the question you’re asked most often when you tell people you play with the PSO? “Do you get paid?”
If you couldn’t be a musician, what would be your dream job? PGA Tour golfer.
Any non-musical hobbies? Golf, softball, and model railroading.
What is your favorite music? What are you currently listening to? Bruckner’s 8th Symphony (especially the slow movement), Mahler’s 6th Symphony, Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concert #1.
Who or what has been your greatest influence, musical or otherwise? My clarinet instructor William Wrzesien.
What/where are your favorite eats in Portland? DiMillo’s, Margaritas and Wok Inn.
