The Composer is Dead

Due to the rise of the highly contagious Omicron variant of COVID-19, we are rescheduling our Discovery Concert The Composer is Dead initially planned for Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 2:30 PM.
We are pleased to announce that this Discovery Concert for Families has been rescheduled to March 27, 2022!
Your tickets are valid for this new date so no action is needed to attend the event. You are all set! You can use your original tickets to attend on the new date.
If you are not able to make the new date, please fill out this online form to exchange into another PSO
discovery concert by March 1, 2022.

An afternoon of family-friendly music and mayhem featuring Lemony Snicket’s signature humor.

In order to ensure the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, dates, programs, offerings, and safety protocols may be subject to change.

IMPORTANT SAFETY UPDATE: Due to the rise of the extremely contagious COVID-19 Omicron variant, your PSO will be requiring all audience members (ages 2 and up), staff, and volunteers attending PSO concerts to provide proof of vaccination (and BOOSTER for those who are eligible and received the final dose of their primary COVID-19 vaccination series six months or more before the date of the concert) or negative COVID-19 test prior to entry, as well as wear properly fitted surgical, KN95, KF94, or N95 masks at all times while at Merrill Auditorium, unless otherwise exempt due to a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.). The booster must have been administered on or before the date of the concert.

Unless otherwise directed by city, state, or federal health officials, these policies will be in effect until at least March 31, 2022, when we will reassess our safety protocols. Any changes to the current measures will be announced on or around that time.

For more information about our safety protocols please click here.

  • Parking: Parking is available in several nearby lots. There is limited street parking in the area. Accessible parking for patrons with disability permits is available on both sides of Myrtle Street and on Congress Street in front of City Hall. Parking spaces are in high demand in Portland. Please allow sufficient time before the start of a show to find a parking space. View more details here.
  • Where do I go first?: Begin in the lobby to pick up or purchase your tickets from the Box office. If you have already received your tickets in the mail you can go straight into the auditorium. If you are there before 2:00 PM, be sure to check out our Podium Hero!
  • What about snacks and beverages?: Per the City of Portland, no food or drink is allowed in Merrill Auditorium. There are water fountains located in the lobby.
  • What about pictures and video?: Unfortunately, taking video of the PSO musicians is strictly prohibited but photography is allowed and encouraged!
