PSO’s Music Director Eckart Preu and the Portland Ballet join together to bring your favorite classic children’s tales to life. Come early for an hour of Pre-Concert games, adventures, and Portland’s largest costume party.

Starting at 1:00 PM, Maestro Preu will lead hands-on conducting lessons at our Podium Hero. In another room, our PSO musicians will share the different orchestra instruments and give lessons of their own at a hands-on instrument Petting Zoo. Come mingle throughout the adventure zones and explore as the mood strikes you. The 50-minute concert starts at 2:30 PM. Costumes are encouraged!

DESIGNED FOR AGES 4-12, BUT ENJOYABLE FOR ALL!
  • Parking: Parking is available in several nearby lots. There is limited street parking in the area. Accessible parking for patrons with disability permits is available on both sides of Myrtle Street and on Congress Street in front of City Hall. Parking spaces are in high demand in Portland. Please allow sufficient time before the start of a show to find a parking space. View more details here.
  • Where do I go first?: Begin in the lobby to pick up or purchase your tickets from the Box office. If you have already received your tickets in the mail you can go straight into the auditorium. If you are there before 2:00 PM, be sure to check out our Instrument Petting Zoo and Podium Hero!
  • What about snacks and beverages?: You are allowed to bring snacks and beverages for you and your family to Discovery concert performances. Two concession stands on the first floor of Merrill Auditorium will also be open.
  • What about pictures and video?: Unfortunately, taking video of the PSO musicians is strictly prohibited but photography is allowed and encouraged!
