Where do you currently live?
What instruments do you play?
Boston University, B. Mus.;
University of Massachusetts/Boston, MS (CS);
Alexander Schneider Christmas String Seminar (New York String Orchestra);
Boston University Tanglewood Institute;
Brevard Music Center;
Eastern Music Festival.
How did you get started in music?
I began playing string bass as part of an Atlanta public schools string program.
What’s your favorite PSO memory to date?
I can’t list just one. My top four would be:
1. First concert playing Mahler’s 4th Symphony with Bruce Hangen
2. Bringing my Parents to Portland for “Magic” shortly before my father died.
3. 9/11 Memorial Concert, and
4. Mahler Symphony No. 2 with Robert Moody
What is the question you’re asked most often when you tell people you play with the PSO?
“How I feel about Robert Moody leaving and what do I think about the Conductor Candidates.”
Any non-musical hobbies?
Swimming, knitting, reading. I have swam Peaks to Portland (2.4 mi) four times and I have participated as a relay swimmer in a Tri For a Cure 5 times (twice with PSO violist Kim Lehman and once with both Kim and regular PSO sub Jill Fratianne)
What is your favorite music? What are you currently listening to?
I really do not like being asked what is my (one) favorite piece of music. It varies with my mood. Also, there is some music where my like / dislike is dependent on the quality of the performance. For example, I love Beethoven Symphonies but only if they are played well.
