Educational background: Bachelor of Music – University of Minnesota; Master of Music, Violin Performance & Literature – Eastman School of Music
Personal Information (family, pets, kids, etc.): Two sons, ages 13 and 7; husband, Robert Lehmann, a well-known conductor, violinist and professor at USM
How did you get started in music? A string quartet visited my school in 4th grade and the minute I heard them I knew playing the violin was something I needed to do!
What non-PSO musical activities do you participate in? Meliora String Quartet, Hancock Street String Quartet, PORTopera, Portland Chamber Orchestra, and many others
What’s your favorite PSO memory to date? Playing Magic of Christmas in 2006, with my husband conducting!
Describe a typical day: Kids off to school, walk, practice, errands, kids home, homework, lessons, rehearsals(and hopefully a little reading, gardening, genealogy or knitting fit in somewhere!)
What is the question you’re asked most often when you tell people you play with the PSO? What is a viola, anyway?
If you couldn’t be a musician, what would be your dream job? Librarian or genealogist
Any non-musical hobbies? Knitting, reading, and genealogy
What is your favorite music? What are you currently listening to? Any Mahler, Brahms sextets, all the string quartet literature. Currently listening to the Brahms songs for viola, alto and piano.
