Let your child’s imagination take wing with this PSO family concert exploring the Magic of Flight! From bumblebees to broomsticks, all you need is “faith, trust, and a little pixie dust.” Come early for an hour of pre-concert games, adventures, and Portland’s largest costume party!

Discovery Concerts bring the whole family together to enjoy the music of the PSO. Concerts are approximately one-hour long and take the audience on a mind-expanding and educational journey with the full orchestra! Doors open at 1 PM for an hour of games, Podium Hero conducting lessons, and lots more musical fun!

DESIGNED FOR AGES 4-12, BUT ENJOYABLE FOR ALL!

Your Portland Symphony Orchestra values the health and safety of our patrons and musicians. Due to the concerns about Coronavirus (COVID-19) we will be replacing our Instrument Petting Zoo with an Instrument Meet & Greet, Paper Airplane Making Station, and Podium Hero Conducting Lessons.

  • Parking: Parking is available in several nearby lots. There is limited street parking in the area. Accessible parking for patrons with disability permits is available on both sides of Myrtle Street and on Congress Street in front of City Hall. Parking spaces are in high demand in Portland. Please allow sufficient time before the start of a show to find a parking space. View more details here.
  • Where do I go first?: Begin in the lobby to pick up or purchase your tickets from the Box office. If you have already received your tickets in the mail you can go straight into the auditorium. If you are there before 2:00 PM, be sure to check out our Instrument Petting Zoo and Podium Hero!
  • What about snacks and beverages?: No outside snacks and beverages are allowed to be brought into Discovery Concerts. Food and drink purchased from Merrill can be brought inside the auditorium. Two concession stands on the first floor of Merrill Auditorium will be open.
  • What about pictures and video?: Video and photography are allowed during the Instrument Petting Zoo, at Podium Hero and before the concert begins! Unfortunately, taking video or photos of the PSO musicians during the concert is strictly prohibited.
