Able to transport us into the past, help us imagine the future, or suspend time in the present, the magic of music knows no bounds.
Two of the PSO’s brightest stars take center stage for Brahms’s masterful double concerto, known for its sheer virtuosity, requiring two brilliant and equally matched soloists. PSO Concertmaster Charles Dimmick and principal cellist, Brent Selby, share the spotlight in a unique and lively conversation between violin, cello, and orchestra.
Rounding out the concert are works demonstrating the magical wonder of music and how the idea of music creates more music, including Paul Hindemith’s colorful masterpiece, Symphonic Metamorphosis, bringing an energetic and playful ending to the evening.
