The Portland Symphony Orchestra presents its final Discovery Concert of the season: Leopold Ocean Explorer
Special guests Victor Yerrid and Jess McKay from Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House
Who: The Portland Symphony Orchestra, led by former Assistant Conductor Norman Huynh
What: The Portland Symphony’s Discovery Concerts are a series of fun, entertaining and educational 50-minute performances designed for families with children ages 5 and up. Leopold, Ocean Explorer is the last of three Discovery Concerts scheduled for the 2017-18 season. Leopold, Ocean Explorer welcomes guest puppetteers Victor Yerrid and Jess McKay. Yerrid is Leopold’s creator and both are renowned puppeteers and actors whose work in children’s television includes Sesame Street, Sid The Science Kid, Hannah Montana, Pajanimals, Bear In The Big Blue House, and Between The Lions.
The popular Instrument Petting Zoo, which offers attendees an opportunity to experience instruments in a hands-on casual setting, begins at 1 p.m.
Tickets to the concert are $10 each and are available through PortTIX at (207) 842-0800 or porttix.com. Phone and internet orders are subject to per-ticket handling fees. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Merrill Auditorium box office at 20 Myrtle St., Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.
